Tehran by foot

This is a mode of transport well worth commenting on. Walking across the road in Tehran is one of the best experiences, ever. Let go of your Western-European obsession with rules and just step out into the flow. Yes, there are traffic lights that change colours, and crosswalks marked on the road, but they are really not paid much attention.

The technique really is to just step out, walk steadily, and trust that the cars, taxis, motorbikes, trucks and buses will find a way around you. It redefines close shave, and makes cycling through London traffic a relative walk in the park. Did I mention I did not see anyone on a bike? You can guess why….but what you also need to know is that the pollution from these crazy drivers kills an estimated 100,000 people a year.

A highlight so far, but perhaps I will see better in Lahore or Delhi?
